A 17-year-old spends the summer with her father in North Carolina and finds many kinds of love.
Product Description
Seventeen year old Veronica "Ronnie" Miller's life was turned upside-down when her parents divorced and her father moved from New York City to Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina. Three years later, she remains angry and alientated from her parents, especially her father...until her mother decides it would be in everyone's best interest if she spent the summer in Wilmington with him. Ronnie's father, a former concert pianist and teacher, is living a quiet life in the beach town, immersed in creating a work of art that will become the centerpiece of a local church. The tale that unfolds is an unforgettable story of love on many levels--first love, love between parents and children -- that demonstrates, as only a Nicholas Sparks novel can, the many ways that love can break our hearts...and heal them.

Review: Wow! Uhm, how do I follow that kind of summary?!?! Okay so I became interested in this book after I went and saw the movie. Which I cringed the whole way through for I kind of hate Miley Cyrus. Sorry to those who are fans. I think the movie could have been better without her. Anyways The book is WAY better than the movie.
I have never read a Nicholas Sparks novel before. Well yes I have I have read parts of A Walk To Remember, somehow I feel this doesn't quite count. Anyways I love his style of writing. It is so real and true. It comes straight from his heart and that makes each word very special. I cried during this book. I NEVER cry while reading a book unless it is really good. This one is one of those books.
If you think this is such a stupid review fine that is your opinion. I understand how it is for someone to only read a book, because of the movie (Twilight anyone). So I hope that I don't ruin this novel for you guys.
I learned so much from this book. Sparks writing is some of the finest I have come across and I am excited to read more of his novels in the future. So go out and pick up this book.

It's been years since I've picked up a Sparks novel and it did not disappoint. My opinion of the book changed from beginning to end. I started out thinking the characters and situations were cliché and that the book was written entirely with the movie in mind, which might be true. However, I never reached a point where I wanted to set the book down. As the story developed the characters became real to me. They drew me in and by the end of the book I didn't want to say goodbye.
I enjoyed the sweet love story found in the pages of this book but Ronnie's father Steve was the very best part of the story. It was worth the hours I lost of sleep to read Steve's perspective on life and the decisions he made. This is a story I will not soon forget.

A decent teen romance that probably comes out better in book form than on the screen. Veronica "Ronnie" Miller meets grease monkey / scion Will Blakelee who is fabulously good-looking, and the two over the course of several weeks get to know each others' odd quirks and eccentricities, like turtles, shoplifting and arson cover-ups. Really, it's not a total puff cake like you might think. Sure the characters look like they're straight out of Harlequin Romance, but the adult themes abound. And by "adult" I don't mean the sweaty bodies stuff. I'm talking conspiracy, cover-ups, felony, adultery, divorce, assault and battery, disease, death, loss and pain. To work all those into 300 pages is quiet a feat, and makes it a little more substantive than the typical "will they or won't they" you typically get from these types of books.

i heard about this movie coming out and decided to read the book before seeing it. i never thought it would be one of the best books i have ever read. the movie was good but didnt come close to the emotions you feel or the scenes you picture while reading this. it goes far beyond a book. you experience everything the characters do in this. the tears the laughter and the love.
